Noreen’s career has spanned over many years and across continents. She was born and raised in Zambia, Central Africa, and has lived in South Africa, England, and the United States before coming to Canada in 2008. Noreen holds a Journalism degree. Noreen and her partner Tamara, have two sons, Sebastian and Addison.
We moved to Ottawa in August 2008 and for months toyed with the idea of joining the frontrunners. I was quite prepared not to join and to continue running on my own, but one Saturday my partner decided it was time to take the plunge. We woke up early, got ready and left the house—on the way to I felt sick and spent more time working out ways to avoid what I thought would be inevitable—I knew I was going to be left behind in the dust and would never return so why should I even try. Instead we walked into a group of friendly runners who were overjoyed that two women had come out to run. The run was fun—I wasn’t left behind—and the breakfast afterwards was just great!
Since then I have never looked back and at times when I have either run early in the morning or haven’t felt like running I will join the group for breakfast and a morning chat!
